Introduction of project to whole school via assembly and newsletters. Pupils / staff will be given a starting point questionnaire from Germany to be re-issued at the end of the two year project. This term will have a geography focus.
Work will be prepared in relation to each school's neighbourhood. Pupils will draw and write about their own lives, with specific focus on homes, school and our town. We will place our town on a map of Europe showing distances to our partner schools. Books will be produced for exchange at first meeting.
Each partner country will take their national flag for each group member to display back in their own school. A mascot will also be taken on each visit which will be included in photos and a diary kept of events / places seen. Upon return, staff will produce books for all pupils to see and share their experiences in assemblies.
November 2013 (Norway)
Coordinators meeting. We will review the tasks and two year plan in light of those partners who have successfully obtained funding. We will also view the Norwegian special needs educational system in practice. Turkey will take the minutes at each meeting and send to all partners within one week of return.
Each partner will make three 2/3D tree decorations to be displayed on a 'European Tree' in each school. The decorations are to be sent to each school by post by the beginning of December. Photos of the making process and the finished tree will be placed on the joint web blog. Denmark will create a joint web blog and forward a password to each partner school.
Video conferences via Skype will take place termly, allowing pupils to share experiences together. Each session will have a specific focus. A video conference rota will be produced by ???
Each term, a sporting / outdoor experience will take place. These will include pupils participating in a variety of sports, for able bodied and disabled athletes. Photos and videos of these events will be placed on the web blog. These events will increase gross motor skills, confidence, team work and good sportsmanship.
January-march 2014
The Comenius project will be relayed to parents, Governors and the wider community via a Comenius newsletter, school website and web blog
Each school will have sufficent exchanged work to be able to produce a dedicated Comenius display board in a prominent position which will be updated every term for all to see.
The focus of this term will be language as the end product will be to exchange an A5 sized tourist leaflet of 4 places to visit in own region. Pupils will visit tourist attractions in their locality and look at costs of visiting, facilities, ease of access and what there is to see and do. Pupils will produce this work using a variety of IT, including the Internet for research and word processing packages. These leaflets will be exchanged at the second meeting.
March 2014 (Poland)
Coordinators meeting. Focus - to exchange leaflets, review next term's work and see the Polish special needs educational system in practice. Visit the school to participate in the daily life of the pupils.
April - June 2014
The focus of this term will be history as the end product will be to exchange an A5 sized tourist leaflet of 4 contrasting locations within the partner country. Pupils will be able to visit some of the locations. They will look at the historical aspect of famous landmarks eg. castles, mountains and the nearest big city. We will include information about the type of weather in our own country and how this affects tourism. Pupils will produce this work using a variety of IT, including the Internet for research and word processing packages. These leaflets will be exchanged at the third meeting.
Each school will celebrate European Day - 9th May. Pupils will share music and stories from partner countries and have a fun European day, based on a European theme. Pupils will experience different activities linked to the partner countries, share a European lunch and wear traditional costumes / colours of partners flags. Photos and videos of this event will be placed on the web blog.
May 2014 (France)
Coordinators meeting. Focus - to exchange leaflets, review next term's work, complete the interim report and see the French special needs educational system in practice. Meet with senior management and local authority representatives.
Vegetables will be planted in school grounds (or pots for ease of maintenance) for inclusion in later recipe work. Flower seeds will be sown (when appropriate) for a competition at each school and results will be shared via email using graphs and charts. Photos of the largest flower from each school will be placed onto the web blog. This mini-topic will cover areas of maths, science, IT and PSE.
Any pupil leaving a partner school at the end of the academic year will be issued with a certificate celebrating their involvement and success in the project. MEPs' from each country will be invited to present these certificates. These will have been emailled to all schools by France.
September 2014 (Turkey)
A staff professional development visit to view a different education system in progress, experience the local culture and view the catchment area of the school. Discussion with colleagues from partner schools re: the special education facilities and pedagogy regarding these pupils. Focus will be to share systems and provision for pupils once at school leaving age.
The focus for this term will be through design technology. This will include work in other areas eg. PSE groups, Harvest celebrations and practical groups for learning life skills. Vegetables planted last term will be cultivated and made into soups. These will be shared with members of the community being invited into school to share the soups and bread that pupils will have made. For further community cohesion, the pupils will take soup and bread to a community facility.
Community links will be further developed with pupils working in the community and with charitable organisations
Harvest celebrations will be held to encourage pupils' understanding of where food comes from, how it is harvested and to appreciate work of farmers and fishermen. Pupils will present an aspect of Harvest to the school and parents. Photos of these celebrations will be posted on the joint web blog.
Pupils will choose 3 traditional recipes from the partner country. They will make the dishes and write the ingredients, method used and photos will be added of pupils making and tasting. These recipes will be in native language and English.
A4 hard copies plus electronic copies will be taken to the next meeting so they can be collated into a joint recipe book.
November 2014 (Germany)
Transnational meeting. Copies of the recipes will be given to Norway so that the recipe book can be given to each partner in March. Discussions re: selling of recipe books through an enterprise project will also take place. The following term's work will also be discussed.
Recordings of either Christmas or New Year celebrations will be made onto DVDs and will be sent to all partner schools by mid January so that pupils can watch the celebrations that take place elsewhere in Europe.
January 2015
The focus for this term will be music. Each school will produce a CD of music traditional to their country, together with music they have composed and performed in their own school. This will include school choir, band, music group, visiting musicians etc.
These will be taken to the next meeting for exchange.
March 2015
Transnational meeting. A hard copy of the joint recipe book will be given to each partner, together with an electronic version. These will be used as part of an enterprise project. Exchange of music CDs. Plan to re-issue the questionnaires so that results from each school can be analysed and discussed at the final meeting
An enterprise project will take place in each school. Pupils will learn the skills of marketing, publishing and selling the joint recipe book with a view to understanding the need to cover outgoings. Pupils will plan to produce sufficient copies to match orders received. Members of local businesses will be encouraged to support the pupils in achieving their aims. We want to equip the pupils in their understanding of the world of business.
The pupils involved in the enterprise project will decide where any profits will be sent.
April 2015
The focus for this term will be citizenship / cultural diversity. Each partner will electronically send a national emblem in photographic form to the Polish school. These will be made into a unified photo to be sent to each school by the end of May. This photograph will be made into a jigsaw by each school for use by the pupils to link our title with cultural diversity.
End of project questionnaires will be given to all pupils and staff. These will be compared to the original questionnaires in order to analyse the impact and benefit of the project in each school. This will be placed as an agenda item for the final meeting.

May 2015 (Denmark)
Transnational meeting - to review, evaluate and complete final forms for each agency together with the partner schools. Remind each partner to publish all results onto the EST website. Look at ways to continue links with established partners, eg. continue E-Twinning, further projects and visits etc.
All pupils in each partner school will be issued with a certificate celebrating their involvement and success in the project. MEPs' from each country will be invited to present these certificates.
