Minutes from Comenius project meeting
Friedrich Fröbel Schule, Maintal, Germany
Thursday 27th November 2014

Wales, Germany, Denmark, France, Turkey
Apologies
Poland

·         Siân introduced the meeting – purpose being to recap what has been done and what still needs to be completed.
·         Siân extended thanks to Beate, Heiko and Judith and all their colleagues for their fabulous hospitality during our stay and visit to the school. All parties agreed we have had a fabulous start to our visit, the choir and Comenius group were great and the school should be very proud. Thank you also for our presented gifts.
·         With regards to the Comenius project, everything is going well this term and looking forward to next term.
·         Siân asked if there were any problems since our last meeting. Wales had a small problem due to our school closing and relocating. We didn’t have time to complete the soup / bread making activities but are hoping to do this next term.
·         Well done to everyone for continuing to use the blog to update photographs and activities, it’s lovely to see what is going on in each school.
·         RE: recipes for book. Please send all recipes (if you’ve not already done so) to Bente in .pdf format and provide her with hard copies. Bente will make up the book and we will all receive a copy in Turkey. She will also send an electronic copy to all.
·         Bente commented that those she had already received looked really good and that they had already started work on the book. Siân will write the foreword for the book on behalf of the group.
·         Work to complete: photographs and videos of Christmas / New Year celebrations to be sent via DVD to each of the partner schools by the end of January.
·         We discussed that the DVD should reflect traditions of Christmas in your country so footage can be included from local area / homes too. The DVD should not be too long as we will want to be showing these to our pupils.
·         Next activity: the focus is music. Each school should produce a CD of traditional music / songs from their country to bring to Turkey for exchange.
·         Anne asked whether traditional dance could be included. All agreed yes. We also reiterated that it can be famous music from your country, not necessarily the pupils singing / playing.
·         Thomas asked if the music had to be in the native language. We agreed yes and this will reflect the different countries, and it should be about what the pupils enjoy too.
·         Finally before our next meeting, it would be a good idea, if possible, to send out letters to parents to gauge interest in the recipe book so initial projections may be made. Thomas asked whether we would be selling this at a fixed price. Siân discussed that this would very much depend on how much it cost to get the books produced, as this will vary in each country. Also, we are not looking to make any profit from the book sales, simply cover the costs of production.
·         Denmark dates confirmed as 6th – 10th May 2015. As European Day falls during this week, while we are in Turkey – we will decide an alternative date for this celebration.
·         Turkey dates confirmed as 18th -22nd March 2015.
o       Zafer confirmed to all that the school is in the Asian part of the city and there are 2 airports.
o       If possible, partners should fly to Sabiha Gokcen Airport (SAW) as this is nearest.
o       The other airport is Ataturk Airport (IST). This is much further way. Transfer can be arranged but this will be more difficult.
o       Zafer will send over some hotel options for all to see. All agreed we would stay in the same hotel.
·         SKYPE: This is still an issue for France and we need to ensure, wherever possible that the Skype conferences are completed each term – technology allowing!
·         Re sunflower competition: all agreed that Norway and Denmark could fight it out for the winner’s title!
·         Siân reminded Heiko that we will need certificates of attendance before we leave.

Danke, until next time!
