Minutes from Comenius
project meeting
Kollegievejens Skøle,
Aalborg, DENMARK
Thursday 7th
May 2015
Present
Wales,
Germany, Denmark, France, Turkey, Poland, Norway
·
Siân
introduced the meeting with apologies that my laptop decided not to work so no
notes for the meeting!
·
Siân
extended thanks to Thomas, Jeanette and John for their fabulous hospitality
during our stay and visit to the school. All parties agreed we have had a
fabulous start to our visit, the assembly and welcome were great and the school
should be very proud. It reiterates that the pupils are the stars of our
project!
·
As
this is our last meeting, we need to think about how the project has gone as a
whole in order to prepare our final report.
·
Siân
asked for updates on recipe book.
o
Denmark
– worked out cost and posted on blog.
o
Wales
– will be printing the books through a local printer and selling through
parents evening and during a school Summer event. Staff interested in buying
too.
o
Norway
– not yet decided.
o
Germany
– still in process of translating all recipes so it is accessible for their
parents.
o
France
– have translated some recipes but it will be ready for September. Each pupil
has 2 books to sell, money will go towards a trip with the pupils to Brussels.
o
Poland
– selling to book during an open day in school and local community.
o
Turkey
– meeting on 29th May to discuss book.
·
Siân
has re-sent the foreword to the book; please use if you wish as a nice
introduction to our book.
·
Well
done to everyone for continuing to use the blog to update photographs and
activities, it’s lovely to see what is going on in each school. Please update with 2
sporting events before school finishes in the Summer.
·
Anything you can put
on the blog, please do before your school finishes – the address will be included
in our final report for assessors / National Agencies to look at.
·
RE:
collage – thank you to Daria for coordinating the collage. Joanna said Daria
will finish this by 15th May. Siân reminded colleagues that the
final collage is to be turned into a jigsaw for the pupils to reflect the title
of the project.
·
End
of project questionnaires – if possible, please give
these to staff and pupils to gain an idea of knowledge and understanding gained
since the start of the project.
o
Siân
explained that the pupil questionnaires from Wales had seen an increase in
knowledge of flags from our partner countries and pupils were able to name
things that come from countries, currencies, capitals etc. Knowledge has
definitely improved.
o
Due
to a change of school, Siân has asked all staff that have accompanied on a
Comenius trip to write a piece outlining the impact of the trip on teaching and
learning.
o
Denmark - reported similar results from their
questionnaires.
o
France
– Pupils knew capitals of countries and flags.
o
Norway
– asked whether we can use the data for the final project? Yes, we can use this to inform our final report writing and
it will be nice to have something in writing in case of inspection by National
Agency.
·
European
Day: Wales do not have any plans at present but will celebrate before the end
of term.
o
Norway
– held yesterday.
o
Turkey
– held tomorrow
o
Poland
– not yet held, maybe over next couple of weeks.
o
France
– European breakfast on 27th May presented to other classes and
pupils.
o
Germany
– not yet organised.
·
Siân
asked if all celebrations could be placed onto the blog?
·
FINAL
REPORT:
o
France,
Norway and Denmark have received their final report forms.
o
We
are unable to see whether we have the same forms or if they are all different.
They also appear to be in varying languages.
o
The
form is long and will reflect on the impact of our project on our schools,
staff and pupils. We can look at the aims and agree whether we have met them
and the objectives set.
o
We
have until 30th September to complete the form – Siân will look at the form when received and complete. This
will be sent out to all partners to add any further information.
o
All
agreed we will complete and send forms before the end of the summer Term.
o
Please,
send Siân any comments you wish to add beforehand.
o
All
agreed with plan and there were no further questions.
o
Unfortunately,
we cannot do anymore due to all parties not having received the form.
·
Denmark
distributed the certificates of attendance to all in the welcome packs – thank
you.
·
Gifts
were exchanged.
·
One last farewell…thank you so much to all in the
group. It has been an absolute pleasure working with you all and we have been
very lucky that we have worked well as a group as well as becoming friends in
the process! I know we will all keep in touch so it’s just a farewell, not a
proper goodbye!
With best wishes, my friends!
