Thursday 27th March 2014

Present
All partner schools

·         Sian introduced the meeting – purpose being to recap what has been done and what still needs to be completed.
·         Sian extended thanks to Joanna and her staff team for their hospitality during our stay and visit to the school.
·         We looked over the plan for Year 1 so far. All schools agreed that the tasks undertaken have been ok and no excess work involved.
o       Wales – Sian outlined that all pupils have been engaged in activities and have benefited from the extra knowledge and experiences that the Comenius project has brought.
o       Poland – Joanna feels that the video conferencing has been really beneficial and of most use to her pupils, with regards to learning English.
o       Norway – Bente agreed that the Skyping has been of most use to her pupils, in encouraging them to speak and hear English.
o       We all agreed the materials we have produced and received have been great and lovely for all pupils to see.
·         Sian asked if all partner school could remember to regularly update info and photos onto the shred blog. This does not have to be every week but please schedule in a regular slot to do this. All National Agencies will be checking the blog for input so it is in everyone’s best interest to do this. Any problems with blog have been worked out. Sian thanked Thomas once again for his support in this.
·         The discussion moved on to the sharing of work between schools. As there may be issue with uploading documents and files onto the blogs, please feel free to email out anything you feel would be of interest or use to the group. This could be, for example, the mascot books, or photos that have been taken etc. Please ensure these are in Word docs or PDF format for ease of access.
·         Parent involvement – Please ensure this is happening. For example, sending home letters to parents and have posting information on a Comenius page on the school website. It appears that no other country than Wales have produced a parent newsletter – please ensure you involve parents in some way, as National Agencies may check this too.
·         Skype sessions – as discussed, have been really successful. Some countries still to fulfil this terms conference. All schools agreed there have been some connection issues but in general, all have been successful in the end!
·         Sian will message out information regarding video conferencing through the e-twinning website as France are unable to download Skype.
·         Work to be completed:
o       All schools to celebrate European Day on Friday 9th May. Wales have started to plan the day at Ysgol Maes Dyfan. Once plans have been finalised, Sian will email plans to all schools in case any ideas want to be used by other partners. Please ensure any photograph or videos produced during the celebration are shared (on the blog or via email) and information is shared with parents and on your school website.
o       Task for exchange – each school to make a poster, size A2 on 4 historical locations in your region / country. Posters should contain photographs / drawings, writing, seasonal weather information and any information on tourism. Any questions, please email Sian – she will send out detailed plans for the task when they are done.
o       Please bring 6 posters for exchange in France (don’t forget to keep one for youself!).
o       All partners agreed the posters should be in dual languages.
o       Sian suggested the best way to make these is by creating a design in A3 size and getting them made into posters at a printing / reprographics company / shop.
·         Information regarding France visit:
o       Anne suggested that getting to Nantes can be expensive so it may be better to fly to Paris and travel internally to Vannes.
o       If anyone needs any help, please contact Anne direct.

§         0033-02-97-43-76-00 (school)
§         sncf.fr (for train travel)
§         Please check out buses from airports for cheapest way.
o       Anne is in the process of forming the plan for our visit and will forward details of accommodation soon.
o       A reminder we should arrive Wednesday 21st May and leave on Sunday 25th May.
o       In France, we will need to compile our interim report for our National Agencies. Please think about the content of this before you come (you should receive information on this from your agency soon). We will then discuss and Sian will finalise the report for everyone to send.
·         All partner schools exchanged tourist leaflets and gifts.
·         Certificates of attendance were given out, along with invoices fro monies paid.
·         AOB – Please ensure all classrooms involved in Comenius have their Comenius corners / display boards’ set up and a central display board for all visitors to see. These need to be regularly updated.
·         AOB – Anne asked about the next task – gardening. There may be an issue with this due to European schools finishing earlier than some and there not being personnel around to water plants.
·         AOB - Sian confirmed that after Easter, schools should be holding a ‘flower’ growing competition within their classes / Comenius group. In Wales, we will be growing sunflowers! All results should be posted on the blog and include photos / graphs / charts etc (whatever is appropriate to your pupils). Sian will send out activity reminders.
·         AOB – Sian will re-look at the Summer growing activity and we can discuss this further in France.

Thanks all, we look forward to meeting up again in France soon!
